- The trail occupies a portion of a former railroad corridor once owned by the O&W Rail Line. There are 3 different sections to this trail, each with a different atmosphere (2.5 miles total). The trail ends around Ferndale, but continues in Hurleyville with the O&W Rail Trail (25 miles long)
- Start at the intersection of Rt.52 (also called Chestnut St) and West St. There is a large, painted sign which says ‘Rail Trail’. At the northern end (Chestnut St. entrance) you pass by the old stone bridge abutments. In the middle, it passes through a commercial section of town, part of which contains structures from the railroad era. At the southern end, the trail is very wooded.
