Hi! I'm Jacob Tarasofsky from Hashomer Hatzair Canada, although I was born in and have lived most of my life in Berlin, Germany. The first, second, and third things you'll probably notice about me will be related to my height but being six foot six doesn't stop me from being a down-to-earth guy who is always happy to report that the weather is the same up here, I promise! I'm extremely passionate about sustainability and am currently studying Environment and Development with a Social Entrepreneurship minor at McGill University. I recently spent five weeks in Israel where I engaged in coexistence activism, worked with grassroots organizations, and built friendships with people who hold every perspective under the sun. This summer will be my fourth year as a counselor and with that my fourth year being a counselor for this kvutzah. I can't wait to embark on this incredible journey together!
Hey! Can you hear me?
My name is Aviv Porath, and I am 20 years old. I’ve been a shomer since 2009, however mostly only in the summers, since although I was born in New York City, I’ve lived in abroad in Shanghai, China for a good chunk of my life-I always made the effort, much to the frustration of my parents, to come all the way back every summer.
I am passionate about music, politics, education, philosophy, traveling and history, to name a few fields, and am always learning more from new experiences and those around me. My parents are Israeli and I spent my gap year in Israel volunteering with kids, traveling, meeting with diverse communities, creating activism projects, and learning about the conflict!
I currently attend college in upstate New York studying Global International Studies and Music, and this will be my fifth year in hadracha.
Can't wait to go on this amazing journey together!
